Austin guide & advice

Everything you need to know

We want your visit to Austin and your experience at our wedding to be as fun and seamless as possible!

Where to Stay

Austin is a wonderful destination, and spring is a very popular season. We recommend reserving accommodations as early as possible. We will not be providing accommodations, so securing your own lodging is necessary.

  • South Congress / Barton Springs: The Carpenter Hotel, South Congress Hotel, or Austin Motel for boutique stays close to the venue.
  • Downtown Austin: The LINE Austin, Embassy Suites Downtown, or JW Marriott for quick access to nightlife, dining, and Lady Bird Lake.
  • Vacation Rentals: Look into Airbnb/VRBO options in the Zilker, Bouldin Creek, or Travis Heights neighborhoods.

Where to Park & Getting Around

Zilker Botanical Gardens is located at 2220 Barton Springs Rd, Austin, TX 78704.

  • Complimentary Venue Parking: Parking is available directly on-site at the Zilker Botanical Garden parking lot.
  • Ridesharing: Uber and Lyft operate throughout Austin and can drop off right at the main garden gates. If you plan on drinking, please ride responsibly!
  • Traffic Consideration: Saturday afternoon traffic near Barton Springs can pick up, so allow an extra 15–20 minutes of travel time.

Good Places to Eat & Drink

Take advantage of Austin's world-class culinary and coffee scene during your stay:

  • Texas Barbecue: Terry Black's Barbecue, Franklin Barbecue, or Micklethwait Craft Meats.
  • Tacos & Tex-Mex: Veracruz All Natural (legendary breakfast tacos), Torchy's, or Matt's El Rancho.
  • Dinner & Drinks: Aba Austin on South Congress, Loro Asian smokehouse, or drinks at Barton Springs Saloon.
  • Coffee & Sweet Treats: Mozart's Coffee Roasters by the lake, Radio Coffee & Beer, or Amy's Ice Creams.

Day-of Wedding Tips

A few quick tips to help you enjoy the celebration to the fullest:

  • Garden Footwear: The ceremony and cocktail hour take place on grassy lawns and paved stone paths. Block heels, wedges, or flats are strongly encouraged!
  • Spring Weather: Austin late March days are typically warm and sunny (mid-70s), but evenings can cool down into the 50s. A light wrap or jacket is recommended.
  • Arrival Time: We recommend arriving by 3:30 PM to park and enjoy the gardens before the 4:00 PM ceremony begins.
